 Overview

A Generic - Flex Allocate resource automatically reserves a specified number of resources based on the quantity of a product purchased.

This resource type is ideal when customers purchase individual admissions, but the system needs to reserve shared resources based on the size of the group.

Common Example

An axe throwing venue sells admission per thrower, but assigns lanes based on the number of participants.

For example:

  • 1–4 throwers = 1 lane reserved
  • 5–8 throwers = 2 lanes reserved
  • 9–12 throwers = 3 lanes reserved

The system automatically calculates how many lanes are required based on the quantity purchased.

Step 1: Create or Edit the Resource
  1. Navigate to Admin Tools → Resources.
  2. Click Create New Resource, or edit an existing resource (such as Throwing Lanes).
  3. Enter the resource information (Name, Description, Capacity, etc.).
  4. Under Resource Type, select Generic - Flex Allocate.
  5. Click Update to save the resource.

Step 2: Assign the Resource to a Product

After creating the Flex Resource:

  1. Navigate to Products.
  2. Create a new product or edit an existing one.
  3. Assign the Generic - Flex Allocate resource to the product.
  4. Configure how many participants should consume one resource (for example, 1 lane per 4 participants).
  5. Save the product.

Now, whenever customers purchase this product, High Trek POS will automatically reserve the correct number of resources based on the quantity purchased.

Example

If your product is configured for 1 lane per 4 participants:

5–8 2

A Generic - Flex Allocate resource works well for:

  • Any resource where one reservation is shared among multiple participants

This resource type allows you to sell admission per person while automatically reserving the appropriate number of shared resources for the group.
